Since our foundation by Wilhelm Jungmann in 1866, we have been considered the experts for fabrics and fine accessories in Vienna. In 1881 the company was awarded the title of imperial and royal purveyor to the court. Our shop at Albertinaplatz 3, built in 1881, is like a time capsule: The ceiling painting is by Franz Lefler, the central painting is an allegory of the silk trade, the wooden tables and shelves are made of solid oak in the German Renaissance style. Today Jungmann & Neffe is the only originally preserved business premises from the early days in Vienna. In the sample books that have survived to this day, in addition to the fabric samples of the dresses ordered, precise information on the cut, style and price can be found: Wilhelm Jungmann und Neffe was the address for the high aristocracy, as well as customers from high finance and the flourishing industry. Bomb nights of the Second World War: Although the State Opera and the Philipphof had been badly hit, the owners managed to keep the shop in its original furnishings. Georg Gaugusch has been running the company since 2005, helping to ensure that the tradition of what is now the oldest Viennese fabric shop is continued as a family business. The focus of Wilhelm Jungmann & Neffe today is on a wide range of goods stocks with fine fabrics and exclusive accessories.
