The Fisherman’s Bastion
Panoramic riverside fortress
The Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest is one of the city’s most famous landmarks, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Danube River and the Parliament Building. Built between 1895 and 1902, it was designed in a Neo-Romanesque style by Frigyes Schulek. The name comes from the medieval fishermen’s guild that once defended this section of the city walls. With its seven fairytale-like towers symbolizing the seven Magyar tribes, the Bastion is a popular spot for visitors and photographers alike.
