News - May and June 2021
FashionTouri business is starting up again and we are here to stay! Read up on our recent successes and our plan for the upcoming months- definitely worth a read.
FashionTouri 2.0
Like a lot of businesses struggling to get through the pandemic over the past year, FashionTouri had its ups and downs. With shops forced to be closed and travel being massively restricted, FashionTouri did not have much of a chance to do business as usual. But the time we spent in lockdown gave us an opportunity to concentrate on building the start-up and generating new ideas for when the tourism sector and local shops start to thrive again. We had some successes recently, which we would like to share with you, and we also have some exciting few months ahead of us. Stay up-to-date by registering as a FashionTouri on the website and give us a follow on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn- @fashiontouri. We are always open to new partnerships with local designers and brands, so let us know if your store/brand would like to join our network and we’ll set it up (register here)!

Winner of the look! Business Awards 2021 “Building a New Future”
FashionTouri, in particular our founder Ronja Scherzinger, was nominated for the look! Business Awards 2021 “Building a New Future”. The award is presented by the look! Magazin Wien every year to recognize strong business women in Vienna. This year the event was hosted by Uschi Fellner, a well-known Austrian journalist and media producer, at the hotel Andaz Vienna am Belvedere in the penthouse suite. The event included a round of panel speakers, and a keynote speaker Oona Horx, who is an international speaker, author, and trend expert (https://www.strathern.eu/de/) .
FashionTouri was nominated in the category FASHION powered by Comma, along with two other powerful women in fashion. The winner was chosen based on a voting system on the look! Website. Through posting about it on our social media platforms and asking friends and family to vote, we received the great news that FashionTouri won!
On the 9th of June 2021, Ronja was invited to the event at the hotel Andaz, where she took the opportunity to get her hair and make-up done by a make-up artist from the Cambio Beauty Academy. Ronja wore a special outfit by Magdalena Leitner - pictured below. Ronja also had the opportunity to mingle with the other winners and make new connections for FashionTouri.
Here is what Ronja had to say to her experience at the look! event:
“It is a great feeling to have been nominated with so many other amazing, strong and inspiring women. We all stand 100% behind our projects and companies to “build a new future” and to establish strong partnerships to support each other. The look! Addition of Social Media Interns
We have extended our FashionTouri team!
As of June 2021, for three months, our social media intern Josephine Nittel started working at FashionTouri. "I am excited to be able to work at FashionTouri. I am fascinated by the idea, as its very unique, and I am grateful that I can support Ronja in making this start-up a success. I look forward to meeting many new people and designers, and see what I can come up with for our partner content creation”.
Another intern, Florence Scholtes, will be joining us starting July, also for three months. Both interns will be creating content for our social media platforms in collaboration with partner brands and seeking new designers that want to join the FashionTouri network, while also researching for you the best sights to see in Vienna.
New partner of FashionTouri: Austrian Fashion Board
FashionTouri very recently joined the newly established Austrian Fashion Board as a partner. The Austrian Fashion Board aims to offer a platform for all designers and labels in Austria to network and support each other. We are honored to have been asked to be part of this initiative, as that means FashionTouri can expand its business to other cities in Austria, and support new and upcoming designers to make a name for themselves. Winner of the Vienna UP’21 “Innovate to Recalibrate!”
On the 12th of May 2021 our founder, Ronja Scherzinger, participated in an online start-up pitch competition. This competition was part of a number of events starting from the end of April until mid-May, initiated by the Viennese Business Agency.
The event took place at the Talent Garden, with a jury consisting of 5 experts in the tourism industry, and the participating start-ups joining in online due to Covid regulations.
“MODUL University Vienna, Falkensteiner Ventures and Talent Garden join forces to present forward-thinking perspectives on post-pandemic recovery for the Tourism, Hospitality & Gastronomy industries”. For more information, click here.
Out of 8 start-ups who presented their idea, only given 3 minutes each, and reasoned why their start-up offered forward-thinking perspectives on post-pandemic recovery for the tourism sector, one winner was chosen.

The jury stated that “there was a big agreement on our final decision”, and Beat Blaser, the co-founder and managing partner at Falkensteiner Ventures AG, added that “the team found that it is a trending topic that really fits the momentum. It’s something that supports local business, also meaning sustainable businesses, and the niche business. […] It also fits the trend of personalization. […] There is a lot of potential which the team saw in social media, where there is a true chance of generating enough customers and clients. […] It also fits the trend of thoughtful travel, especially post-pandemic”.
