Hellas Athens! Chaotic, loud and multifaceted - my second home

Refreshing cooling

For 15.00 euros you can relax on the luxurious sun loungers or on the manicured lawn for a whole day. A combination of the high salinity of the lake, the thermal springs and the sea water, which continuously fill the lake. The Greeks attribute a healing effect to the brackish lake water. A special highlight is the music evenings of the restaurant. Accompanied by orchestra or jazz music, you can enjoy your dinner while marveling at the lighting of the lush rock face.

Athens city center

The next morning, we wake up hungry for culture and want to spend the day downtown. The subway takes us directly to Monastiraki Square, where Athens shows its chaotic, rough side. We disappear into the crowds of the flea market, which is open every day until early afternoon. Here you should keep an eye on your handbag, as the area is teeming with pickpockets. Mostly, you will find souvenir shops, small bakeries and boutiques for low-budget travelers in this market.

We feel like ants and now we want to go up high; next stop is: "the city above the city", the Acropolis. At the time an independent district, it is now a complex of several ancient buildings. In addition to the most famous photo motif, the Parthenon, you can also see the Dyonisos Theater and the Erechtheion.

FashionTouri Tip: You can marvel at the unique buildings from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at a price of EUR 20.00. Students within the EU and senior citizens pay a reduced price of € 15. A visit to the Archaeological Museum is also included.

Hungry, thirsty and looking for a spot of shade, we descend the hill. We find what we are looking for a few minutes' walk from the foot of the Acropolis. We are greeted euphorically in one of the traditional Greek taverns and only a short time later we enjoy our well-deserved, ice-cold coffee frappé. In addition, a starter plate to share. Afterwards we make our way back to the apartment in the suburban area.

My favorite shop in Athens: Zeus and Dione

On our last day, we want to go back to the spacious inner city, which is apparently too big to explore in one day. We go straight to my favorite shop: Zeus and Dione. This high-priced shop is characterized by the craftsmanship of exceptionally Greek designers, who create true masterpieces with elements of local architecture, clear lines and elaborate designs.

 End the day relaxed

When walking through the nearby cobblestone streets of Plaka, the old town of Athens, the Acropolis serves as a compass. Local designers in particular present and sell their fashion here. The sun casts its last rays of sunshine over the city and an increasingly relaxed atmosphere spread. Singing sounds between the winding alleys, accompanied by folklore music. We decide to end the evening in one of the many rooftop bars. Wanted-found, we toast to our short vacation with a view of the beautifully illuminated Acropolis. Yamas!
